Sources: Taliban Completely Halt the Activities of YouTubers in Kandahar
Sources from the Taliban’s Department for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Kandahar have told Amu that the department has completely stopped the activities of YouTubers and individuals active on social media.
According to these sources, Abdul Karim Faqir, the Taliban head of the Promotion of Virtue in Kandahar, held a two‑hour meeting with these individuals on Wednesday morning.
The sources stated that during the meeting, artists were instructed to refrain from producing videos and performance sketches. Otherwise, they would face action from the Taliban’s inspectors.
Following the meeting, a group of these YouTubers stated in a video posted on Facebook that this would be their final post. They added that, based on Article 17 of the Taliban’s Promotion of Virtue Law, they are no longer permitted to continue their activities on these platforms.
Article 17 of the Taliban’s Promotion of Virtue Law bans the publication of images of living beings.
