A Convicted Individual and Two Defendants Given Discretionary Punishment in Khost Province
According to the decision of the Primary Court of Bak District in Khost Province, two individuals accused of theft and one individual convicted of moral corruption were subjected to discretionary punishment today, Wednesday (15/4/1447 AH), in a public setting.
The Primary Court had sentenced them to one year of imprisonment each, along with 20 to 30 lashes as discretionary punishment. This ruling was implemented after receiving approval from the High Council of the Supreme Court.
This entry documents the public implementation of disciplinary punishment (taʿzir) on three individuals in Khost Province, including two accused of theft and one convicted of “moral corruption.” The imposition of corporal punishment on both accused and convicted individuals, including for broadly defined offenses, reflects the enforcement of punitive measures within a judicial system characterized by limited due process safeguards and the use of punishment as a mechanism of social control.
