Notes on Decree

The Taliban’s morality officers in Badakhshan have shut down all English language centers and girls’ kindergartens funded by the Aga Khan Foundation in Faizabad and several districts. The closures primarily targeted institutions in Ismaili areas, affecting early education and language programs for girls below grade six. This action extends the Taliban’s campaign against community and donor-supported education, combining gender-based restrictions with ideological and sectarian control.
