According to the sources, Mr. Hashimi was detained at around 1:30 a.m. today (Sunday, 28 Dalwa) from the Arya Township area of Kabul.
Based on the information received, the cultural activist has been transferred to Department 40 of the Taliban Intelligence Directorate.

The motive behind the Taliban’s arrest of this cultural activist remains unclear. However, according to the sources, he had previously composed poetry praising Ahmad Shah Massoud and the province of Panjshir.

Since their return to power, the Taliban have repeatedly arrested and imprisoned young people and activists from Panjshir across various provinces of the country.

Notes on Decree

This entry documents the arrest of a cultural activist and poet from Panjshir by the Taliban’s intelligence authorities in Kabul. The detention reportedly occurred during a night raid and the individual was transferred to a facility operated by the Taliban Intelligence Directorate. While the authorities have not publicly stated the reason for the arrest, sources indicate that the individual had previously written poetry praising Ahmad Shah Massoud and Panjshir province—figures and places associated with historical resistance to Taliban rule. The arrest reflects a broader pattern in which cultural figures, activists, and individuals associated with symbolic or political expressions linked to Panjshir have been detained since the Taliban’s return to power. Such actions reinforce the use of security and intelligence mechanisms to monitor and suppress cultural or expressive activity perceived as oppositional to the Taliban’s political authority
