Taliban Arrest Seven Residents of Panjshir
Local sources in Panjshir report that the Taliban have detained seven residents of the province’s Dara district.
According to the sources, these individuals were arrested yesterday (Monday, 28 Aqrab) in the Dara district.
Six of the detainees have been identified as Noor Zaman, Abdul Waheed, Abdul Haq, Amir Mohammad, Noorul Haq, and Zikrul Haq. The family of the seventh individual has not permitted his identity to be disclosed.
According to available information, some of these individuals include former military personnel and former jihadist commanders.
Sources state that despite their military background, none of the detainees have any ties to Taliban opposition groups.
It remains unclear why the Taliban arrested these individuals.
Taliban local authorities in Panjshir have not yet commented on the arrests.
Since their return to power, the Taliban have repeatedly arrested and imprisoned residents of Panjshir.
The group has detained several people from this province on accusations of having links with the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF).

Notes on Decree

This case reflects the continued use of arrest and detention by Taliban authorities in Panjshir Province without publicly disclosed charges or judicial process. The detention of former military personnel and former jihadist commanders, absent any stated evidence of opposition activity, indicates reliance on status-based suspicion rather than individualized wrongdoing. The lack of official explanation or legal justification reinforces patterns of arbitrary detention and collective targeting in areas associated with resistance.
