Decree

The closure of women’s beauty salons across the country.

Decree Translation

Announcement: "It is hereby informed to all beauty salons operating in the areas of District 17 that, in accordance with the directive from the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, they must cease their activities by the designated time (1444/5/3 AH). Failure to comply will result in legal and formal action, and they will not have the right to file complaints thereafter."
(District 17 Administration)

Notes on Decree

The Taliban’s directive to close beauty salons has rendered an estimated 60,000 women unemployed, many of whom were the sole providers for their families. This decision eliminated one of the last sources of income and public presence for Afghan women.

It is a clear violation of their right to work and a targeted act of economic exclusion. For many, it represents a deep and lasting injustice that will not be forgotten.
