Taliban have instructed female employees at the Ministry of Finance to send male relatives from their households to work in their place.

The report states that with the Taliban's resurgence, a significant number of female employees have been either laid off or sent home with "very low" salaries.

Several female employees have told The Guardian that they have received similar requests from Taliban officials through a phone call to introduce their male relatives instead, as one woman quoted a Taliban official saying, "Workload in the office has increased and they need to hire a man instead of women." Another female employee at the Ministry of Finance said, "I was asked to introduce one of the male family members to work in my place.
