Taliban have instructed female employees at the Ministry of Finance to send male relatives from their households to work in their place.
The Guardian newspaper, on Tuesday, 27 Cancer, has published a report on the Taliban's restrictions on women's employment in government offices. The report states that with the Taliban's resurgence, a significant number of female employees have been either laid off or sent home with "very low" salaries.
Several female employees have told The Guardian that they have received similar requests from Taliban officials through a phone call to introduce their male relatives instead, as one woman quoted a Taliban official saying, "Workload in the office has increased and they need to hire a man instead of women." Another female employee at the Ministry of Finance said, "I was asked to introduce one of the male family members to work in my place.
In this news story, the Taliban reportedly phoned female employees to request that they send their male family members in their place at work. Other accounts have verified this but it has not been verified officially by the Taliban.
