Decree

Prohibition of female flight attendants' employment at Ariana Airlines.

Decree Translation

Sources in Afghanistan International have reported that the Taliban have ordered female flight attendants at Ariana Airlines not to return to work. These attendants have been excluded from the flight schedule of the company since the takeover, and Ariana's planes operate without female crew.

While the Taliban have previously denied laying off female employees from government offices, according to information obtained, Ariana officials have informally told these flight attendants that they are not needed.

For a very brief period, these employees were allowed to work while fully covered in uniforms approved by the Taliban. However, they now only sign in twice a month and receive a negligible amount of 5,000 Afghanis monthly without performing any duties. With the compulsory confinement of these attendants, female passengers on Ariana Airlines flights will be deprived of female assistance, especially in emergencies.

Notes on Decree

In the video clip, female flight attendants are demanding that they be allowed to resume their work. They are stating that their lives are in danger, and requesting civil society and human rights defenders to help them.
