Decree Translation

On the date of 29/09/1444 AH, According to the decision of the courts of Faryab province and the honorable guidance of the Chief Judge and Head of the Judiciary of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, in the premises of the General Presidency of the Judiciary of Faryab province under the leadership of the esteemed Molavi Abdulghani (Saeed), the Chief of the General Judiciary, with the presence of officials from government and military departments, esteemed scholars, and a large gathering of devout people of the province, punitive sentences were imposed on more than six suspects (4 men and 2 women) for the crimes of illicit relations and consumption of alcohol.

Notes on Decree

The public implementation of punitive sentences for alleged moral offenses in Faryab province reflects the Taliban’s continued reliance on corporal punishment and public spectacle to enforce its interpretation of Islamic law. The presence of military officials, religious scholars, and the public underscores the regime’s use of such events as tools of intimidation and social control, raising serious concerns about due process and the protection of individual rights
