8 Sobh Daily Newspaper in Ghazni: local sources have reported the whipping of a woman and a man in this province.

Sources have informed 8 Sobh newspaper that on Tuesday evening, 25/03/1403, the Taliban publicly whipped a woman and a man in the center of Jaghori district.

According to the sources, these individuals were accused by the district's primary court of having an extramarital relationship and fleeing from home. Each of them has been sentenced to one year and six months in prison along with 35 lashes.

It is worth mentioning that the Taliban have publicly whipped several individuals in Kabul, Herat, Kandahar, Panjshir, and Sar-e Pol provinces during the current solar year.

The public flogging and imprisonment of a man and woman in Jaghori district for alleged extramarital relations and fleeing home reflects the Taliban’s continued reliance on corporal punishment without guarantees of due process. These actions raise significant human rights concerns, particularly regarding the right to a fair trial, bodily integrity, and gender-based discrimination in the administration of justice.
