These punishments were imposed in a public setting according to the decision of the Provincial Court of Ghor.
The public flogging and imprisonment of eight individuals, including one woman, in Ghor province for offenses such as adultery, sodomy, and fleeing home exemplify the Taliban’s use of corporal punishment and criminalization of personal conduct. These acts bypass international fair trial standards and reflect a broader pattern of gendered repression, particularly in targeting women's autonomy and mobility.
