Two Convicted Individuals Subjected to Discretionary Punishment in Laghman Province
According to the ruling of the Primary Court of Alingar District in Laghman Province, discretionary punishments (taʿzir) were carried out today, Monday (28/11/1446 AH), in a public gathering against two individuals—including one woman—convicted of fleeing home and assisting in the act of fleeing.
During the gathering held for implementing the taʿzir sentences, the President of the Laghman Court of Appeal, Mawlawi Abdul Karim (Haqqani), delivered a detailed speech on the importance of enforcing the rulings of hudud and taʿzirat within society. He stated that if such punishments are not implemented upon offenders and defendants, society will move toward corruption, and the lives, property, and safety of the people will no longer remain protected.
Similarly, the District Governor of Alingar, Mawlawi Noorul‑Hadi Sarim, addressed the attendees, speaking about the value of the Islamic system. He described the Islamic system as a great blessing from Allah Almighty and added that the welfare of society lies within the proper enforcement of hudud and taʿzirat.
In addition, the President of the Alingar Primary Court also spoke to the participants about the significance of the Islamic system, the role of the courts, and the sacrifices and efforts of the mujahideen.
It is noteworthy that the Primary Court had sentenced one offender to one year of imprisonment and 30 lashes, and the female offender to three years of imprisonment and 30 lashes as discretionary punishment. These rulings were implemented after receiving approval from the High Authority of the Supreme Court.
