Taliban Imprison a Former Local Commander in Parwan for Four Years
8 Subh, Kabul: Local sources in Parwan say that the Taliban have imprisoned Mohammad Gul Ghorband, a former local commander, for four years without any court ruling from the group.
Sources told 8 Subh Daily on Monday, 28 Mizan, that after regaining power, the Taliban arrested this commander in the Ghorband Valley and transferred him to the Taliban’s “Forty Intelligence Directorate” in Kabul.
According to the sources, this commander was moved to Parwan after being tortured.
The sources add that he was shot during the torture sessions and sustained injuries to his neck.
Based on the information received, Mohammad Gul is currently in critical health condition.
Sources noted that although the Taliban’s court has issued an order for his release, the group has not freed him due to personal hostilities.
The sources further state that Mohammad Gul had believed in the Taliban’s general amnesty and had returned home from the Iran border, where he had been staying.
According to a United Nations report, the Taliban arrest, torture, and imprison former military personnel who are deported from neighboring countries.
This entry documents the detention and imprisonment of a former local commander in Parwan Province without a formal court ruling, despite a reported judicial order for release. The continued detention, accompanied by allegations of torture and severe ill-treatment, reflects the use of arbitrary detention and coercive practices outside formal legal processes. It indicates the exercise of punitive authority through security and intelligence structures, undermining judicial oversight and due process guarantees.
