Former Local Commander in Parwan Dies After Torture in Taliban Custody
8 Subh, Kabul: Local sources report that Zamari Sayyedkhili, a former local commander in the Sayyedkhil District of Parwan Province who was arrested by the Taliban in 2022, has died as a result of severe torture during his imprisonment.

Local sources told 8 Subh on Saturday, 10 Aqrab, that Sayyedkhili was detained by Mullah Abdul Haq, the current Taliban district governor of Sayyedkhil, and spent approximately one month in a Taliban prison following his arrest.

According to information provided by the sources, the former commander was subjected to intense torture during this period.

They added that the torture left Zamari Sayyedkhili paralyzed, and due to the deterioration of his physical condition in recent weeks, he passed away last Thursday.
This incident comes amid a recent increase in the arrest and torture of former military personnel by the Taliban across Afghanistan.

Notes on Decree

This entry documents the death of a former local commander in Taliban custody in Parwan Province following reported torture. The detention and alleged severe ill-treatment resulting in death reflect the use of arbitrary detention and coercive practices targeting former security personnel, indicating the exercise of punitive authority outside formal legal safeguards.
