Implementation of Discretionary Criminal Sentences Against Two Defendants in Takhar Province
Based on the ruling of the Primary Court of Farkhar District in Takhar Province, discretionary criminal sentences were executed today, Monday, 02/05/1446 Hijri Qamari, in the municipal courtyard of the mentioned district, against two individuals including one woman who were convicted of adultery.
The Primary Court had sentenced both defendants to 39 lashes each as discretionary punishment. This ruling was implemented in public following its approval by the Supreme Court.
This case documents the public implementation of corporal punishment by a Taliban primary court for morality-based offenses, carried out following Supreme Court approval. The use of a municipal courtyard and public setting underscores the exemplary and deterrent function of punishment. The absence of any reference to legal representation or procedural safeguards reflects continuing patterns of arbitrary punishment and denial of fair trial guarantees.
