The National Examination Board, which operates under the Taliban, has recently stated that, based on the order of Haibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of this group, female students without a chador are not allowed to enter university. This department has emphasized the wearing of the chador so strongly that two days ago, the Taliban's Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice department in Badakhshan prevented female students from entering the university. In response to this action, these female students resorted to protests.

In images circulating on social media from the protests of these students, it can be seen that they are chanting slogans of "We don't want compulsory hijab" at the closed university gate, while kicking and striking it with sticks and stones.

Notes on Decree

Taliban continue to prevent girls with other kinds of veils from entering universities. One of the students at Bamyan University, using the alias Shahrbano, told Deutsche Welle that for three days, officials from the Taliban's Department of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice and university guards have been searching and checking the phones of girls at the public gate. She added, "Three days ago, they didn't allow half of the female students to enter the university. Later, with the intervention of the head, all these girls went to their classes. On the second day, everyone was dressed in black, but those who wore trousers and had masculine features were prevented from going to the university by [enforcers of virtue]."
