Taliban Raid Wedding Ceremony in Badakhshan Over Music; Bride and Groom Arrested
8AM, Badakhshan: Local sources in Badakhshan report that Taliban Hisba (morality police) forces raided a wedding ceremony in Shahada district of the province due to the playing of music, arresting both the bride and groom.
Sources told 8AM Daily on Monday, 15/12/1403 , that the incident occurred the previous night in the village of Sarghelan in Shahada district.
According to the sources, the stated reason for the Taliban raid was the presence of music, and all guests fled the ceremony.
The sources added that the Taliban also beat women and children, and the wedding contract ceremony remained incomplete.
The Taliban prohibit listening to, performing, or playing music at weddings and have repeatedly arrested individuals for such reasons.
Previously, the group also raided another wedding ceremony in Badakhshan, injuring two people.

Notes on Decree

This case documents the enforcement of Taliban bans on music through direct intervention by morality police at a private family event. The raid on a wedding ceremony, arrests of the bride and groom, and reported violence against women and children demonstrate the extension of moral regulation into intimate social and cultural practices. The disruption of a marriage ceremony and use of force underscore how cultural expression is policed through coercive means, with no indication of judicial process or proportionality.
