Date: 24/08/1402 Sources in Herat say that the Taliban have instructed booksellers at a street book fair to cover the images on the covers of the books. Pictures from this exhibition, which were sent to the Rukhshana media outlet, show that the images of human faces on the covers of all the books have been covered with paper.

One source, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the Taliban ordered them to carry out this action. The officials at the exhibition declined to comment on this matter.

Arian Aron, a writer, reacted on his X account to the covering of book covers, stating: "Every year when the book fair was held in Herat, excitement would stir in our veins and in the city. This year, however, at the street book fair, the ruling group covered the images on the books to show that their foolishness has no limits. The primitiveness and absurd behaviors that will never even greet civilization."
