Notes on Decree

This directive by the Taliban in Faryab province further entrenches gender apartheid by banning women from public spaces—parks, sports halls, baths, and restaurants—unless accompanied by a male guardian. It isolates women from everyday life, reinforces male control over their mobility, and eliminates access to recreation, health, and social participation. By denying the right to file complaints, the order also strips women of any legal recourse, underscoring the Taliban’s systematic erasure of women’s rights and voices.
