Taliban Expand Arrests in Panjshir, Including Educators

Name: Karimi

Region: Panjshir province

My name is Karimi, from Panjshir—one of Afghanistan’s most renowned provinces. History has shown that the people of Panjshir have always upheld national and international principles and have consistently advocated for freedom for all Afghans. Today, however, the Taliban are imprisoning people in Panjshir under various pretexts.

This terrorist regime is now attempting to dismantle the educational system across Afghanistan, replacing schools and universities with Haqqani-style religious seminaries. Believe me, even in Panjshir, the Taliban have established religious schools for girls where only Haqqani curriculum is taught. These schools are currently the only places where girls are allowed to leave their homes and receive some form of education—seen by the Taliban as the most “appropriate” solution.

But no one knows what kind of future awaits Afghanistan when girls graduate from these Taliban-run seminaries. The next generation of mothers will be shaped by Taliban ideology and will raise their children accordingly. Today, the Taliban treat Afghan women—and especially the people of Panjshir—with deep resentment. You can witness this hostility clearly if you visit areas like 500 Family and Company in Kabul, where the Taliban are actively promoting extremism.

Their restrictions on women intensify daily. But the Taliban’s vision will soon collapse, as Afghanistan has a long history of overthrowing oppressive regimes. We are a resilient people, and even in the harshest conditions, our mothers raise heroes.

Although Panjshir is a small province, Taliban crimes here quickly come to light. Recently, they have arrested and punished many residents. Initially, their focus was on former military personnel, but now even educators are being targeted. Two teachers were arrested simply for educating the children of this nation.

Unfortunately, Taliban atrocities in Panjshir continue. Despite this, we remain committed to freedom and hopeful that one day, no Panjshiri will be imprisoned in their own province, and our people will live with pride and dignity.

We receive daily reports of Taliban arrests in Panjshir, and this situation is intolerable for any conscience that remains awake.
